Welcome Party for Japanese Self-Defense Training Vessels

Two ships from the Nippon Kaijoh Jieitai (Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force) will be docked in Vancouver from June 15^th to 18^th. The ships will have new graduates (officer candidates) on board.

VJLS-JH will host a welcome reception in appreciation of the Jieitai’s rescue and relief operations for the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. Over 100,000 cadets were deployed immediately after the disasters. Today their efforts continue as they remove debris from houses, factories, and other structures, while still searching for over 9,000 missing bodies. 

60 crew members and cadets will be attending the reception at the Japanese Hall. This is a Community Reception, so anybody who wishes to express your appreciation to the Jieitai is welcome to attend. Entrance is by donation. Seating is on a first come-first serve basis, so please book your reservation as soon as possible.
